SHILLONG: In a crackdown on speeding bikers and those creating nuisance along the Shillong-Sohra road, Sohra Police conducted a drive on Sunday detaining as many as 33 people including seven girls.
Police conducted the drive on the Sohra-Mawkdok bridge route.
SDPO Sohra, Ian Swer informed that all the 33 were sent for medical test and were later released after their relatives signed the bail bond.
Nine vehicles used by the youths were also detained.
Swer asserted that the drive will continue in the weeks to come in view of the fact that the scenic road has become a happy hunting ground for those creating nuisance by the roadside and for speeding bikers who cause a lot of inconvenience to the passersby, tourists and others commuting along the route.
