SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Cabinet on Tuesday approve a proposal to bring an amendment to the Meghalaya Contractor Labour Regulation and Abolition Rules (Assam Rules, 1971) as adapted by Meghalaya to revise the security deposit, registration and licenses.
“The proposal was necessitated to facilitate upward revision of the grade of fees for security deposit, registration and licenses prescribed in Rule 24, Rules 26, Rule 30 and Rule 32 and Amendment to Rule 38 of the Act for payment of fee. These rates have not been re-visited since 1974,” Labour Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said after the Cabinet meeting.
She also said that the proposed amendment will be put in the public domain and would be reviewed after six months.
In addition, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said that the reason for putting the proposed amendment in the public domain was to allow stakeholders to come up with suggestive modifications or objections in this regard.
