SHILLONG: Senior Cabinet Minister H.D.R. Lyngdoh on Wednesday resigned as an MDC.
Lyngdoh deputed his personal secretary P. Nongbet to submit the resignation letter to KHADC Chairman Manstudy Nongrem.
Lyngdoh has been represented Sohiong constituency as a KHADC MDC since 1999.
When contacted, the minister said he had to depute his personally secretary since he was preoccupied.
Asked if he was disappointed with the move of the State Government to come up with the Amendment Bill which compelled him to relinquish  his post as MDC, Lyngdoh said there was no question of being disappointed since he was also in favour of the ‘one man one post’ theory.
“I understand that it is a difficult task to perform the role of an MLA, MDC and Minister in the Government at the same time. It is a huge responsibility and I have miserably failed to deliver. I am extremely happy that now I can give my 100 per cent to carry on with my job as MLA and as Minister in the Government,” Lyngdoh said.
Lyngdoh also dismissed allegations that the Amendment Bill was specifically meant to target KHADC CEM Pynshngain N Syiem, saying that if there was such a thing then the Bill would have been tabled on the first day of the session.
