NONGPOH: Peeved with the inordinate delay in submitting the reports by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for the additional land which is meant for widening of Shillong Bypass near Umroi Airport on Thursday, the CORP central body has asked the concerned Minister of Revenue and PWD to intervene on the matter, so that the Ri Bhoi District Administration can proceed ahead in awarding the compensation to affected land owners.
Informing this to The Shillong Times, David Kharnaior, general secretary of CORP central body said that, the organisation had received numerous complaints from land owners who were affected from the widening of the Shillong Bypass, that they have not received the land compensation till date though their land will be affected with the widening.
He also said that CORP   enquired over the delay for awarding the compensation on the part of the district administration, which later, the organization got the information that the delay was from the NHAI, as they did not submit the reports or rectify the land area which will be needed for expanding the Shillong Bypass.
Kharnaior also asserted that, the CORP had asked the Minister of Revenue R.C Laloo and PWD minister Sniawbhalang Dhar to intervene on the matter so that the widening work of Shillong Bypass will be speed up and also those land owners will receive their compensation at the earliest.
