SHILLONG: The Community and Rural Development department has been declared as the nodal agency to frame and notify separate building bye-laws for the rural areas of the state.
The state government had earlier decided to frame separate building bye-laws for the rural areas of the state after the MUDA by laws were made applicable only to urban areas and census towns.
The assurance to identify a nodal department to facilitate framing of building bye-laws for the rural areas, was made in the Assembly during the just concluded autumn session by the Urban and Municipal affairs minister Ampareen Lyngdoh.
