New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday sentenced Pakistani national Ghulam Nabi Guide to life in prison for engineering three bomb blasts on January 26, 1995, at Maulana Azad Memorial Stadium in Jammu. The blasts killed eight people and left 18 others seriously injured.
The apex court bench of Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice U.U. Lalit pronounced the sentence after holding Ghulam Nabi guilty. He was personally present before the court on Wednesday.
While awarding life imprisonment, the court declined the CBI plea to award him three life imprisonments as he had been convicted under three different provisions of law, and that the sentences should run consecutively. The Supreme Court earlier on July 1, 2015, had set aside the TADA court verdict which acquitted him of the charges of terror. (IANS)
