SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has courted controversy with his statement made during the funeral of HSPDP leader Hoping Stone Lyngdoh  on September 29.
Sangma had said during the funeral as per a statement issued by DIPR that”  New politicians learnt many things from the great leader (Hoping) and he was the only politician to become rich after elections which is a reflection of the love he had earned that is for all to learn and emulate”.
However, a few persons who contacted this newspaper office wanted to know whether really the late legislator became rich after the elections as the relatives and friends of the late leader had always maintained he never became rich after the elections as he neither had his own home nor any wealth in his possession.
