Jack Black opens up about brother’s death
Actor Jack Black is marking the 25th anniversary of his brother’s death by opening up about the Aids- related tragedy. The “School of Rock” star is known for his comedy talents, but he admits his early career years were marred by drugs, divorce and the death of his sibling Howard, aged 31, reported Us magazine. “Losing a family member is the worst thing I could imagine. Death didn’t happen quickly. We all saw the deterioration. He was so very young. We were robbed of something precious. It was devastating. It was hard for all of us, but it was hardest for my mom when we lost Howard. She’s never really recovered,” Black said. The 46-year-old actor, who was 11 years younger than his big brother, still counts his sibling as one of the main inspirations in his life, saying, “He was a big influence on me. He took me to my first rock concert. He was so vibrant, creative, amazing. He shaped my taste in music.” PTI
Henry Cavill, Luke Evans to star in ‘Sand Castle’
Actors Henry Cavill and Luke Evans will co-star with Nicholas Hoult in the war drama “Sand Castle”. The film will be directed by Fernando Coimbra, who helmed several episodes of Netflix’s “Narcos”, with Chris Roessner penning the script, reported Variety. Mark Gordon will produce through his Mark Gordon Company banner along with Justin Nappi through his company Treehouse Pictures and Ben Pugh of 42. Treehouse Pictures is fully financing the film, which Gordon has shepherded from its inception. The movie is based on Roessner’s experience as a machine gunner in Iraq’s Sunni Triangle.
The story centres on Matt Ocre (Hoult), who is part of a mission to repair a broken water system in the dangerous and unstable Iraqi village of Baqubah.
While the people of Baghdad welcome the Americans as saviors, the villagers resist their presence and Matt and his unit must try to convince the community that they are part of the solution, not the problem, in order to save the town and get out alive. (PTI)
