District-Level National Children’s Science Congress held

Shillong: The District Level National Children’s Science Congress, 2015 was organized by the West Jaintia Hills District Administration in collaboration with the State Council of Science Technology and Environment (SCSTE) on October 8 at Science Hall, Circuit House, New Hill, Jowai under the theme: ‘‘Understanding Weather and Climate.”
Altogether five projects were presented by the participants wherein Associate Professor, Kiang Nangbah Government College, L. Ksoo and Lecturer, Kiang Nangbah Government College, Jessica Dkhar were the judges.
Students of Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Jowai presented a project on ”Collection of Insects”, while the students of Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Jowai did a project presentation on ‘the topic ‘Comparative Analysis of Waste Generation, Collection and Disposal in Some Places Selected in Jowai.”
Students of  K. J. P Synod Mihngi Higher Secondary School displayed a project on the topic titled ‘‘Studies on Weather Patterns and Incomeless of Workers with Daily Wages.”, while the students of Jaintia Secondary School, Jowai gave a presentation on the subject ‘‘Chimney Manual Filter” and also on ‘‘Box light Plantation.”
The winners of the competition, Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Jowai, Jaintia Secondary School and K. J. P Synod Mihngi Higher Secondary were awarded with certificates and cash prizes of Rs. 4000 and Rs. 2000 each respectively.
The Event was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, D P Kharsati.
Extra Assistant Commissioner, B J Kharshandi gave insights on the aspects of the theme ‘‘Understanding Weather and Climate.”
