M’laya all set for NH7 Weekender

SHILLONG: Come October 23 and all roads would lead to Bhoirymbong where 50 bands and top singers from the country and abroad will enthrall music lovers not only from the State but also from across the country during the two-day Bacardi NH7 Weekender 2015.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Vijay Nayar, CEO of Only Much louder, a management company for Indian music groups, said the Shillong leg of events will feature artists from across diverse genres such as Megadeth and The Wailers along with Kailasa, Papon and The East India Company, Parikrama, Indus Creed, The Raghu Dixit Project, Nucleya, besides over 40 other artists.
He said this year’s Festival which will be held on October 23 and 24 will feature Engrave Makers Market, a specially curated space for artists.
He informed that no tickets will be charged for children under 12 years of age accompanied by their families and added that the event will have zero tolerance towards hooliganism.
He also asserted that safety for women will be ensured and special provisions will be made for people with disabilities.
Stating that they are anticipating attendance of 15000 people on each day of the event, Nayar said a significant number of people have booked the tickets.
He also mentioned that the support from the State Government has been tremendous.
Rudy Wahlang, who has been associated with the events for the last six years, asserted that it has been a great experience working for the event.
R.G. Lyngdoh, Vice-Chancellor of MLCU an avid music lover, said the event will open up innumerable opportunities for the State and people of Meghalaya should take full advantage of the benefits which will come their way from the event and the likes which will help Meghalaya to come into the limelight.
The Bacardi NH7 Weekender 2015 is scheduled to be held at the BDSA Sports Complex, Madan Kurkalang, Bhoirymbong, on October 23 and 24.
Tickets for people under 21 years of age are Rs.1000 for two days while the regular tickets are priced at Rs.2000 for two days.
