NFSA list
The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills has informed that the list of beneficiaries under NFSA 2013 under urban areas of the district has been displayed at the office of the DC (Supply), East Khasi Hills, from October 14. Claims and objections in the prescribed format will be entertained in the Office of the DC (Supply) from October 14-21.
Debate
As part of the commemoration of the birth sesquicentenary of Babu Hajom Kissor Singh, the Unitarian Church Madan Laban will organise an Inter- College Debate competition on Friday at Raid Laban College. The debate in Khasi will start at 10 am on the motion “Ka ktien Khasi ka don ha tmier jong ka jingduhjaid” while the debate in English will be on the motion ‘District Councils are redundant and should be done away with’ and will start at 1 pm.
Plantation
The Meghalaya Basin Development Unit in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture, Ri Bhoi District on the Tuesday organised a one- day Agar plantation programme at Nongladew L.P School Compound, Nongladew. The programme was attended by Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Pooja Pandey, Horticulture Development Officer M. Marbaniang, OSD E. Shanpru, headmen, village elders, school children and people.
Sensitization
ICAR Research Complex, Meghalaya organized a sensitization programme on Mera Gaon, Mera Gaurav (My Village, My Pride) at Marngar area of Ri Bhoi District on Tuesday. A group of 5 scientists from ICAR arranged an awareness campaign on the scheme in association with Seva Bharati, Meghalaya. A comprehensive action plan was prepared with the participation of village headmen, village elders and youths for effective realization of the scheme which emphasizes on adoption of good agricultural practices, up-gradation of indigenous breed of livestock and climate resilient agriculture.
Condolence
CSWO condoled the sudden demise of Kenny Warjri, video journalist of PCN cable news, who died in an accident at Paikan, Assam on October 11. CSWO extended its condolence to the bereaved family and to the media fraternity. It also prayed for speedy recovery of photo journalist Walton Jyrwa, who was injured in the mishap.
