Electoral rolls
The electors of the 30-Mairang (ST) Assembly constituency and 31- Mawthadraishan (ST) Assembly constituency are informed that the electoral roll has been prepared in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960 and a copy thereof is available for inspection at the office of the Electoral Registration Officer, during office hours and at all polling location station from October 16 to November 10. The qualifying date for the preparation of the electoral roll is January 1, 2016.
Dry day
The Deputy Commissioner (Excise), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has declared 22nd and 23rd October, as Dry Day throughout East Khasi Hills on account of Durga Puja. All Bonded warehouse/IMFL shops/bars/hotels/clubs shall remain closed on the given dates.
NSS programme
The NSS District Level Meet (East Khasi Hills District and Ri Bhoi District) will be held at Union Christian College, Umiam Khwan from October 19-21. D.D. Lapang, Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya will be the Chief Guest on the occasion.
World Food Day
The office of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jaintia Hills celebrated the World Food Day on October 16 at the Farmer’s Training Institute, Rymphum under the theme, “Social Protection and Agriculture”. District Agriculture Officer, West Jaintia Hills, L Laloo, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Dandiya night
Marwari Sammelan Mahila Samity, Shillong, will organize a DJ Dandiya Night on October 17 at Aurobindo Ashram, from 5 pm onwards. Governor V.Shanmuganthan will be the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Church event
St. Rose Katholik Church, Umpling, Divine Saviour Parish, Nongthymmai will organise its Quasquicentennial celebration on October 18 from 9 am onwards. The church will also facilitate 35 priests on the occasion.
