Sanbor ‘satisfied’ with NCP show, silent on Marthon

SHILLONG: South Shillong MLA and state president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Sanbor Shullai expressed satisfaction over the party’s performance in the recently held GHADC elections. “They (party candidates) lost by small margins and I’m happy that at least one out of the four candidates won. I congratulate the party workers for GHADC polls their efforts,” he said on the sidelines of the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Laban Indoor Sports Stadium here on Saturday. Reacting to a query regarding his own NCP legislator from Mendipathar, Marthon Sangma fielding his wife Jingje D Shira, who unsuccessfully contested from the Congress from Damas, Shullai said, “I do not have any information on that”. Stating that he “gracefully accepted the dual post issue” Shullai said that the candidate for the vacant MDC’s post will be decided by the party. He also bemoaned the loss of revenue for the State due to the NGT ban on coal mining.
