Woman inmate raped at government home

KRISHNAGAR (WB): An inmate of a government home here in Krishnagar in West Bengal was allegedly raped by one of the workers and the 27-year-old woman has complained to the district magistrate about it. The woman had been allegedly raped a fortnight ago and complained to the magistrate during his routine visit yesterday, police said on Saturday. Confirming this Nadia district magistrate Vijay Bharati said “I have heard about the happening and have sent the SDO, Sadar today to look in to the matter and report it to me.” The DM has also ordered the lodging of an FIR. The woman was sent for medical tests today, police said. The accused worker is a local and is absconding, the police added. The woman had been rescued from Krishnagar railway station by the Government Railway Police a few months ago and sent to the home. (PTI)
