Bravehearts honoured in W Khasi Hills

NONGSTOIN: The Iawphniaw clan on Tuesday felicitated three bravehearts – Bonaventure Nongkseh (20) of Pyndengrei, Johny Thyrniang (19) of Nongjri West Khasi Hills and Willbert Marngar (17) of Pyndengrei village – in West Khasi Hills.
They saved the lives of three children, Pretysha Iawphniaw (12), Dariti Iawphniaw (11) and Kenneysha Iawren (12), when they slipped deep into Mawiangdong river near Nondein while taking bath.
It was on October 2 that the children went to take bath at Mawiangdong river when two of them slipped into the water and the other went down while trying to rescue the duo.
One Joysiful Iawphniaw, who was washing clothes nearby, witnessed the incident and cried for help. The three youngsters heard the screams and rushed to the spot and jump into the river to rescue the children.
