Idol immersion mishap claims 1 in GH

SHILLONG: A person, who was part of the immersion team coming in a motor boat for the immersion of the Durga idol, was drowned at Jingiram river in Phulbari and his body was recovered on Saturday.
The deceased  has been identified as Bibhas Lahari (Pinku, 30) from Phulbari.
When contacted, the local MLA and Assembly Speaker AT Mondal, who visited the family of the deceased on Saturday, said that while the puja -celebrations passed off peacefully, the drowning of Lahari has cast a pall of gloom in the area.
In Phulbari, motor boats are used to carry idols along with people for the immersion and there were around 9 idols ready for immersion on Friday.
