Sangma-Syiem stand off

SHILLONG: The AICC general secretary in-charge Meghalaya V. Narayanasamy will arrive here on Sunday evening to discuss the political situation in the state in the wake of stand-off between Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and the Chief Executive Member of KHADC, P N Syiem over okaying the dual post Bill reportedly without any consultations within the party.
Though the Bill took effect from October 1, Syiem is yet to relinquish the post of CEM whereas other seven legislators, who were holding the posts of MDCs, had already resigned.
“We will have the Congress Co-ordination Committee meeting on Sunday evening to iron out whatever differences within the party” Narayanasamy said over phone on Saturday
The AICC leader said that he would meet all the office bearers of the party besides MLAs during his visit.
The meeting will also discuss the GHADC polls and analyze what went wrong since the party secured only seven seats out of the total 29.
In addition, there will be a separate meeting by the state election committee of the party on the same day to decide on the candidate for the Nongstoin by poll.
As per the  programme, after  his meeting with the Congress legislators on Sunday, the next day Narayanasamy will visit South West Khasi Hills to hold meeting with the leaders there.
On Tuesday , he will take part in the Congress workers convention  at Ri Bhoi.
