SHILLONG: Work on the already delayed Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Mawiong is in progress but its early completion will depend on timely flow of funds from the North Eastern Council.
Officials from the Transport department informed that the first phase of the project has been completed at a cost of Rs.4 crore released by the NEC and the State Transport department was awaiting release of funds for the second phase.
The officials also mentioned that the land required for the project has been acquired without any hurdle.
The Mawiong ISBT project was approved by the Planning Commission in 2012. Once operational, the terminal will have a capacity for 200 buses.
The total estimated cost of the project is Rs.48.31 crore.
