SHILLONG: The Monolith Festival is scheduled to be held in March next year, KHADC EM Neil Antonio War informed on Tuesday in reply to a query by UDP member T. Dkhar.
“The Executive Committee has convened a forum meeting to hold the Monolith Festival but it will collide with the Indigenous Terra Madre at Mawphlang so it was decided to schedule the Festival to March next year,” War said.
The inaugural edition of the Monolith Festival was held in 2013 at Mawphlang, a fitting venue for the Festival, which was initiated by the KHADC to preserve and protect the rich bio diversity which abounds in the forests.
The Festival is also meant to conserve the traditional heritage and social customs of the various tribes of Meghalaya.
