Five kidnapped Indian children rescued from B’desh
Udaipur (Tripura): Five children, including two girls who were kidnapped from Tripura and taken to Bangladesh on October 24 have been rescued from Noakhali district of that country and the kidnapper has been arrested, police said on Tuesday. Gomati district Superintendent of Police Prabir Majumder said Bangladesh police arrested the children from the house of a 68-year-old woman kidnapper and produced them before a local court there. The court sent the children to a juvenile home there and sent the woman to police remand, he said. The BSF, the SP said, has also taken up the incident with Bangladesh Border Guards for returning the children to their parents. The children would, however, return only after completing the formalities, he added. The five children, including a 10-month-old girl and another 11-year-old girl were kidnapped by the woman from Rangamati village of Gomati district. The woman is a Bangladeshi citizen who was staying illegally in the country with her son, an Indian citizen. She had kidnapped the children following a family dispute, the SP added. (PTI)
Arunachal CM meets Rajnath Singh
New Delhi:  Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Tuesday met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed with him the prevailing situation in the Northeastern state. During the 15-minute meeting, Tuki briefed the Home Minister on the security situation in the border state which has seen insurgency of NSCN(IM), NDFB and ULFA militants, official sources said. The Chief Minister also apprised Singh on the status of the Chakma-Hajong refugees and the implication of the Supreme Court order granting Indian citizenship to the community, which had migrated to India from Bangladesh about four decades ago. The Arunachal Pradesh government has already filed a review petition in the Supreme Court urging it to reconsider the decision as many people in the state are opposed to granting citizenship to Chakma-Hajong refugees living in the state.
