GOC-in-C takes stock of CI operations in Assam

Guwahati: The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Command, Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi made a visit to Rangiya based Red Horns Division on Wednesday in the company of accompanied by Lt Gen Sarath Chand, GOC Gajraj Corps, to review the overall security situation prevailing in Lower Assam areas and also to get an account of the ongoing operations against the terrorist groups operating in the area especially NDFB(Songbijit faction).
On his arrival at Rangiya, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Command was received by Maj Gen CP Mohanty, the General Officer Commanding of the Division.
He was given a detailed briefing on the ongoing Counter Insurgency/ Counter Terrorism operations in Lower Assam, with a specific update on the current operations being undertaken against NDFB (S) post the 23 December 2014 violence against the Adivasis.
A Defence source here informed that the General Officer expressed his satisfaction on the progress of operations and also appreciated the efforts made by the formation to counter the rapidly changing situation in the region.
He appreciated the people-friendly approach and empathy displayed by the Army in conducting operations against militants.
The GOC-In-C personally interacted with field commanders at their respective headquarters to obtain a first-hand perspective of the operations on the ground.
