Dry day
The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills has declared October 30 as a dry day throughout the district in view of the mega procession to be organised by the Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong ka Bri u Hynniewtrep.
Diwali directive
In pursuance of the Supreme Court’s Order regarding the noise pollution caused by fireworks during Diwali, the Department of Forests and Environment, Government of Meghalaya has called upon the public to restrain the usage of fireworks during the festival. The Department has also instructed the school and college authorities to educate the students about the ill effects of the fireworks.
Award ceremony
The Raid Laban Sports Social and Cultural Organisation, in collaboration with the Government of India will organise the 12th award ceremony for meritorious students at U Soso Tham Auditorium at 10 am on October 31.
SVEEP programme
As part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, the Office of the Sub Divisional Officer (Election), Mairang, organised a kite flying Show at the Madan Tiehpdang, Mairang on October 29. Hundreds of children from around 20 schools of the area participated in the event.
Diamond jubilee
The closing ceremony of the Diamond Jubilee celebration of St. John Bosco Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Sohra will be held on October 31. Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh, MLA, Umsning Constituency and Parliamentary Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, will be the Chief Guest on the occasion.
