SHILLONG: Traffic in Shillong was subjected to massive chaos and disruption for a greater part of the day on Friday on account of the massive rally organized by traditional heads.
Despite advisories issued by the Traffic department and opening of new routes, traffic came to a virtual standstill for hours.
The Traffic department sealed off the arterial IGP Point and vehicles were not allowed to proceed in that direction.
The massive procession veered around Lachumiere and the Secretariat Hill only but there was a ‘domino effect’ on movement of traffic elsewhere in the city throwing life out of gear during the peak hours of the day.
