Seven held for ‘recruiting’ youth for fake aviation institute
Jorhat: Seven people, including two women, have been arrested in Assam’s Jorhat district on charge of conducting recruitment for a fake aviation institute, a senior police officer said on Saturday. They have been identified as Sandip Kumar (director) and ‘faculty members’ — Kishor Prasad, Narayan Singh, Manish Biswas, Dibanshu Mitra, Yesheka Sarma and Priyanka Sarma. They were detained on October 23 on charge of duping educated unemployed youths in the name of giving them admission and demanding a large sum of money for screening test at a local school, the official said. On receiving a report from Delhi Police that it had no information about the existence of the said private aviation academy in the national capital, police booked the seven under various sections of IPC on Wednesday after detaining them on October 23, the officer said on Saturday. The alleged fraud came to light when two of the candidates became suspicious about the screening test when they were again asked for money as they had already paid online for the exam process, he said, adding the two then filed a complaint at the Lichubari police outpost.
