Stripping, assault charges against BSF, official denies

SHILLONG: Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have been accused of stripping and assaulting a citizen in Shella.
According to a complaint lodged by one Onju D Marak, on October 30 around 11 am her husband Jebalson S Sangma (54) was grazing three buffaloes at Dalia village in Shella when the BSF personnel of Adharghat BOP assaulted and stripped his clothes and took him along with the three heads of cattle to their camp and confined him for the whole day.
On the other hand, BSF official T. Murugesan lodged a complaint that on October 30, the BSF personnel of Adharghat BOP, Shella detected three unknown persons with seven heads of buffaloes near the border.
On seeing the troops, the three persons fled towards Bangladesh leaving behind the seven buffaloes.
Later, the BSF personnel called one Jebalson Marak to help herd the buffaloes to their camp but he fled away and fell down in which he sustained injuries.
The BSF official also stated that when BSF took him to administer first aid and the seized buffaloes to Adharghat BOP camp the villagers pelted stones at the BSF causing partial damage to a Govt. issued Gypsy (AS-01P-4006).
The BSF PRO, however, said he did not have details about the incident but added that he had heard that Jebalson Marak had an altercation with Bangladeshi smugglers and was assaulted by them.
