ITM delegates hurt in road mishap

SHILLONG: As many as 12 delegates including foreigners attending the Indigenous Terra Madre (ITM) Festival were injured in a road accident  on Friday morning  near Pommura  in Mawryngkneng, East Khasi Hills.
According to police, the incident happened when delegates were on a visit to Amlarem from Shillong when the vehicle, they were travelling, overturned.
The injured persons have been identified as Rajiv Khanna (38, NRI from California,  Monica Agarwal (36  from Gurgaon), Roveen Bhansali (California), Dijen Deka (32, Darrang, Assam), Anneli Sarah Johnson (55, Sweden), Luisa Valpe (39, Italy, Trip Langshiang (75, Muktiah, WJH), Rajesh Vini Bhansali (40, NRI from California), Bhawana Desai (29 from Ahmedabad), Daniel Mawsor (27, WKH, .Auspin Kharbri (37, WKH and, Bhawana Severbhai (29, Ahmedabad).
All the injured, except one, were released after being administered first aid except. Dijen Deka was admitted to Bethany Hospital, Shillong.
Rijiju at closing prog: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju will attend the closing programme of the ITM 2015 at Mawphlang on Saturday.
