SHILLONG: Police will conduct further probe to ascertain the involvement of a PWD Engineer who was detained on charge of pelting stone from the PWD office near the Civil Hospital during the rally sponsored by the headmen on Thursday.
East Khasi Hills SP M. Kharkrang told reporters on Friday that the engineer was let off after he denied his involvement in stone pelting.
The engineer whose name is yet to be revealed by police was first handcuffed, eyewitnesses said, and released later, but police denied that the engineer was handcuffed.
The police chief denied ‘any pressure’ to release the engineer.
Kharkrang, however, added that police will examine videos of the rally to ascertain whether the engineer was involved in stone pelting.
On the damage to the ASTC bus, he said no FIR was filed by any one.
