JOWAI: The Kiang Nangbah Government College Students’ Union (KNGCSU) on Monday put the college under lock and key protesting the State government’s failure to fulfill its various demands including renovation and expansion of the college building. The agitating students’ body will march to the office of the Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday.
Students numbering more than a thousand locked all the gates of the college. In the afternoon, police in the presence of a magistrate broke all the locks.
Meanwhile, several Jaintia Hills-based pressure groups including the Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU), the KSU’s Jaintia Hills Unit, the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) and the Niaw Wasa Youth Federation (NWYF) have extended their support to KNGCSU and members of these organizations are expected to take part in Tuesday march.
