Kick boxer in need of money to take part in Intl event

SHILLONG:  A kick boxer is running from pillar to post to get money to take part in an upcoming international event in Ireland.
Hameshaniah Suiam (19) hailing from Shangpung and currently residing at a rented accommodation at Malki was in the state secretariat on Monday along with his coach and another sports enthusiast to get money for him from well wishers so that he can take part in the event.
Suiam had taken part in many events including the International World Junior Kickboxing Championship held in Italy last September.
This year, he was qualified for the International World Senior Kickboxing Championship to be held at Dublin, Ireland from November 21 to 29.
Suiam, a second year Bsc student at St Edmunds College said that he is facing mental and physical agony as has to move around asking for money amid the uncertainty whether he would be able to take part in the event in the absence of the required amount of Rs 2.53 lakh for him and his coach.
Suiam’s coach and President of Meghalaya Association of Kickboxing Organizations Donny Ranee said that people should support Suiam’s cause.
Ranee, who is also the vice president of the National Kickboxing Federation of India said that talented sports persons should be encouraged as they will bring only laurels to the state.
