SHILLONG: The nomination of NPP leader Conrad Sangma as MDC is still pending with the Government for approval after his name was forwarded to the District Council Affairs department on November 3 by the Executive Committee of GHADC.
The GHADC had also forwarded the names of two more MDCs for induction in EC which has also been pending since November 3.
An official with the District Council Affairs department said on Wednesday that the file in this regard is yet to be seen by him.
Even after the approval of the government, the names will have to get the nod of the Governor, the official added.
Earlier, on October 16, the Garo Hills Progressive Alliance led by NPP had proposed the name of Conrad to be the Chief Executive Member (CEM) which, however did not materialize as the rule allowed only any elected member to be the CEM.
Later on October 21, the three time MDC from Williamnagar Denang T Sangma was elected unopposed as the CEM.
However, Denang will give way to Conrad as CEM once the latter’s nomination as MDC gets the nod of the Governor.
