TURA: In the wake of strong protests being raised in Garo Hills over the directive of the High Court of Meghalaya for imposition of the AFSPA in the region, the leaders of Alliance of Christian Churches (ACC) have offered to act as negotiators between the militant groups and the government if given a chance.
Joining other groups in Garo Hills who are opposing the possible enforcement of the AFSPA, the ACC stated that the act would not bring any good but instead lead to gross violation of human rights of citizens at the hands of the security forces.
During its emergent meeting held on Wednesday the ACC also decided to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister of India on various burning issues pertaining to youths and the general public.
