Pariong campaigns for Jyndiang

NONGSTOIN/SHILLONG:  Congress has suffered a major blow five days before the Nongtoin bypoll when former minister and Congress ticket aspirant Adviser Pariong on Tuesday openly campaigned for HSPDP candidate Diosstar Jyndiang.
Pariong addressed a HSPDP election rally which was attended by the party president Ardent Miller Basawiamoit and other senior leaders.
Pariong, who lost to Hoping Stone Lyngdoh in the last Assembly election on a Congress ticket, spoke at a public meeting of HSPDP at Ladweitang asking the people of Nongstoin to vote for Jyndiang.
Stating that he decided to extend unconditional support to Jyndiang, Pariong informed that he along with his supporters would join HSPDP shortly.
Pariong appraised the gathering that the meeting was called to decide the fate of the  people of Nongstoin and his career as a politician keeping in mind the 2018 Assembly polls.
When asked about Pariong supporting HSPDP candidate, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said that the party has its own internal mechanism to deal with the situation.
“If he (Pariong) speaks against the party, it shows that he is against the party. But we have an internal mechanism to deal with the issue”, Sangma told reporter on Tuesday.
It may be mentioned Pariong had left HSPDP to join Congress in 2013.
