TURA: The Meghalaya Indigenous Youth Forum (MIYF), Garo Hills Division has urged the ruling Garo Hills Progressive Alliance (GHPA) in the GHADC to work towards exclusion of non-tribals in Council affairs.
“The involvement of the non tribals in the electoral process and business procedures of the GHADC amounts to violation of the rights of indigenous tribals.
The federation cannot accept the involvement of the general people in the ADC as it is framed to safeguard/protect the interest of the indigenous people,” the MIYF said in a statement.
Stating that the involvement of the general population in the ADC would cause huge problems for the indigenous tribals in the near future.
The federation requested the elected representatives to commit to their moral responsibility and stand against the participation of non tribals in the electoral process of the GHADC.
