New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal court has deferred till November 30 the hearing on the ban on coal mining in Meghalaya.
The hearing was deferred on Tuesday as the NGT wanted some more time to study the Centre’s views on the mining guidelines prepared by the Meghalaya government, sources said.
The state Government had already submitted its mining guidelines to the NGT which in turn referred the same to the ministries of coal and environment. On November 30, the NGT will also take a decision on the appeal of the coal dealers and miners for further extension of time for payment of royalty.
