SHILLONG: In a major breakthrough, Williamngar police on Wednesday arrested the ‘right hand man’ of GNLA C-in-C Sohan Shira identified as Malmepa.
Malmepa, who is a civilian cadre of the banned outfit, used to supply food and other items to Sohan Shira, police sources said.
He was acting as the caretaker of Sohan’s properties including the rubber garden, newly constructed house in Bawegre village and fish ponds.
Malmepa confessed before police that Sohan amassed a lot of property.
Malmepa also disclosed that a huge amount of money collected by Sohan is with his wife Chiruma and her brothers.
Our Tura correspondent adds: Police have arrested a GNLA cadre from near Rongsak market in East Garo Hills during a late night operation on Tuesday.
The suspected militant Salsrang Ch Marak alias Mogo (22) hailed from Rongsak Songgital village.
