Abducted cop may be dead: Police official to HC

SHILLONG: Abducted police head constable Khomraj Bhattarai might have been ‘done to death’, Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) G.H.P. Raju told the High Court of Meghalaya, basing his claims on unconfirmed reports. The High Court directed the State government to look into the matter and provide ex-gratia payment as per rules to the next of kin of the policeman immediately, apart from other assistance on compassionate ground required to boost the morale of the State Police force.
