Debate
The Meghalaya State Commission for Women will observe the International Campaign Protesting Violence against Women and Girls from Nov 25 to Dec 10. An inter college Debate competition will be organized on Nov 25 at Meghalaya Bharat Scout and Guides at 11 am. The topic is ‘Education plays a significant role in changing harmful gender stereotypes that promote or change violence against women’.
New branch
The North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach has inaugurated a new branch office at Nongrim Hills on Tuesday to expand their projects in Meghalaya and other parts of the North East in areas of communication, telemedicine, rehabilitation etc.
Seminar
The NSS Unit of Nabon Women’s Synod College, Shillong organised a one day seminar on ‘Women in Higher Education’ on Tuesday in the college hall. R. Rymbai, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Education, NEHU, was the resource person. Also in attendance was K.L. Buam, Asst. Professor and NSS Programme Officer, Synod College.
PDS supply
The DC (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, has informed that whole meal atta for the month of October, 2015 is being distributed through the Fair Price Shops at the scale of 123 grams per head at the rate of Rs.8 per kg.
Unclaimed body
The body of one Islam Ali (39), who was admitted to the Shillong Civil Hospital on November 9 and expired on November 15, has been lying in the hospital morgue. Relatives are asked to claim the body within November 22 failing which the body will be send for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.
