Constitution Day observed

SHILLONG: On the occasion of the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the North Eastern Council (NEC) observed Thursday as “Constitution Day”.
Ram Muivah, Secretary, NEC administered the preamble reading ceremony to all the officers and staff of NEC.
The Centre had decided to observe November 26 as the first ‘Constitution Day’ of India as a tribute to Dr. Ambedkar, who played a seminal role in the framing of the Indian Constitution. On November 26, the constitution was adopted which came into force on January 26, 1950 marking the beginning of a new era in the history of India.
Meanwhile, the NSS Cell of ICFAI University observed the Constitution Day on the university premises.
A pledge was taken on the occasion and a talk on the salient features of the constitution of India and its making along with a power point presentation on the “Indian Constitution” was also held.
