Jammu: A day after stirring controversy over his PoK remarks, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah on Saturday said entire Indian Army ”cannot even defend terrorists and militants in the Kashmir Valley”.
“Even if India impresses its whole Army, it would not be able to defend itself from terrorists as they come to kill only,” Dr Abdullah told reporters at a function here to interact with civil society members.
“Saari Hindustan Ki Fauj Bhi Aa Jaye, Toh Bhi Nahi Defend Kar Sakti Terrorists Aur Militants Ke Khilaaf (even if the entire Indian Army comes to Kashmir, it will not be able to defend against terrorists and militants),” said Dr Abdullah.
“Terrorists can kill any one and now I am speaking the truth to you that they (terrorists) can even kill me despite security.” He added.
However, reiterating his yesterday’s assertions about Kashmir, he said that despite putting all efforts neither India can get the PoK back nor the Pakistan can get Jammu and Kashmir.
“India even if put all its might, it cannot get back the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir and similar is the case with Pakistan as it cannot claim Jammu and Kashmir from India,” said the National Conference president.
The former Union Minister during former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s time said that he stood by his words asking both India and Pakistan to resolve the crisis through dialogue.
“Pakistan do also have the Prime Minister but it is the Pakistani Army, who is ruling there,” he said and added that if Pakistan army wishes to coup against Nawaz Sharif it can do so anytime.
“An impression has been created among the people in Pakistan that it is only the Army, which can defend India,” he maintained and added that Atal Bihari Vajpayee during his visit to Pakistan, extended the hands of friendship with them to have cordial relations with the neighbour.
“Pakistani Army has created a different picture of India despite the fact that India want to have friendly ties with the neighbour,?? he added.
“Only way to resolve ‘Kashmir dispute’ is dialogue with Pakistan while people-to-people contact is essential,” said Dr Abdullah.
He however, again said that PoK will be a part of Pakistan and J&K of India and It was not something new he has said.
“To resolve the Kashmir issue there were many proposals brought by the Parliament and many are being proposed even today,” he said.
“What India has done to fulfil that resolution as many of them were passed by the United Nations but those too have not been executed,” he said adding, that the proposals would not resolve the matter but action is required.
On Aamir Khan’s recent statement, Dr Abdullah also advised media for responsible reporting and said, “it is unfortunate that the media does not bother about repercussions of a report”.
The NC leader yesterday said that actor Aamir never said that he wants to leave India as he was there at the award ceremony. (UNI)
