New Delhi: In an outreach to the media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday broke his security cordon and mingled freely with journalists who jostled with one another to greet him and click selfies with him at a Diwali Milan organised by the BJP at party headquarters here.
The security personnel had a tough time in managing about 500 strong crowd of media persons as Modi waded through it with folded hand, stopping intermittently to have a word with the invitees.
The selfie session continued for quite some time as the Prime Minister was in no mood to disappoint anyone.
Besides top journalists, the function was attended by party president Amit Shah and senior members of Modi’s Cabinet, including Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitaraman, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Smriti Irani and senior party functionaries.
Earlier, at the function the Prime Minister said the festival had a very special place in the Indian society as they played a strong binding role. To look into their socio-economic aspect would provide interesting insight, he said.
In 2014, PM Modi organised a similar interaction with the media fraternity. (Agencies)
