Director of General Assam Rifles visits Manipur

SHILLONG: Lieutenant General HJS Sachdev, Director General Assam Rifles, visited the State of Manipur on an official three day visit to IGAR (South) from November 27 to 29.
Sachdev was briefed on the prevailing security situation in the State by Major Gen VS Sreenivas, IG Assam Rifles (South).
The DG appreciated the relentless efforts being put in by all troops under the command of IGAR (South) in controlling insurgency in Manipur during his interaction with troops while visiting various Headquarters & Units. He also visited the forward posts of Assam Rifles to motivate and interact with the troops deployed there.
On November 27, the DG visited the Manipur State’s Sangai Festival as a Guest of the State where he was felicitated by officials of the State and witnessed the culture of the State first hand.
On November 28, he called on the Chief Minister of Manipur, Okram Ibobi Singh, during which the security situation in the State including the tasks undertaken by the Assam Rifles were discussed.
Sachdev assured the CM of the continuous support of Assam Rifles in the progress of the Sate.
Ibobi appreciated the endeavours of IGAR (South) and also conveyed his whole hearted support to their sustained efforts in tackling the security challenges.
He also complimented the high level of camaraderie and synergy between the Assam Rifles and civil administration in dealing with the existing security situation in Manipur.
The DG, Assam Rifles was accompanied by Vandana Sachdev, President Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association (ARWWA), DGAR who interacted with all the families in the Station and took stock of Welfare Projects being run for welfare of families in HQ IGAR.
