Film selected for screening
A short documentary film entitled ‘Skill Based Developed India’ directed and produced by students of St. John’s Whitehall, Shillong has been selected for screening at the National Youth Film Festival Competition 2015 to be held at Goa. This is the only school from Meghalaya to have been selected out of 120 entries.
Public meeting in Jaintia Hills
13 pressure groups of Jaintia Hills will organise a public meeting on December 4 at Mission Compound Playground at 11 am to discuss issues of Kiang Nangbah Govt. College and the demand for removal of West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner.
Intl Day of Persons with Disabilities
The Department of Social Welfare, Meghalaya, in collaboration with the Society for Transforming Education, Cultural and Social Objectives, Shillong will celebrate the World Disabled Day on December 3 at 10 am at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong. Home Minister Roshan Warjri will grace the occasion as chief guest.
Dwar Jingkyrmen will be celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3. A fete is being organised with fun, food, games and raffle from 10:30 am to 4 pm and will be open to the public.
Advance Christmas
Christ School International will organise the Advance Christmas cum Peace and Brotherhood Celebration Season 6 on December 5. The chief guest will be Dominic Jala and the closing ceremony will begin at 3:30 pm.
Career counselling workshops
The 16 days of activism against ‘Gender Based Violence’ is being observed from November 25 to December 10 as part of which North East Network organized two career counseling workshops at Don Bosco School, Smit and at Sacred Heart School, Mawlai under the theme ‘From Peace – In the Home to Peace in the World: Make education safe for all’. The workshops will help the students to map out personal career paths.
Tikrikilla Youth Festival
The third Youth Festival will be organised at Tikrikilla on December 15 by the Garo Cultural Welfare Organization in collaboration with various NGOs of the region. Traditional sports like Wapong Sika, Wapong Mala, An.ding Oka, Chambil Moa, Gando Makal Pala, Jakpong pia, Budu salgrika, talent show, Christmas Kritan and traditional fashion show will be organised.
