Twin explosions in Fancy Bazar

Guwahati: At least six persons including a woman were injured when suspected ULFA (Independent) detonated twin blasts at the heart of high-security Fancy Bazar here, the biggest business hub in the Northeast India on Saturday afternoon.
The injured were rushed to the hospital while alert has been sounded all over the state in the wake of the back to back blasts in Fancy Bazar that occurred at around 3.00 P.M.
The police informed that the bombs were planted in a roadside dustbin in the heart of the business hub.
Police suspected involvement of anti-talks faction of the ULFA or the ULFA (Independent)led by fugitive leader Paresh Barua in the blasts.
The outfit had attacked two Hindi-speaking workers of a stone crusher at Namrup in Dibrugarh district of eastern Assam on November 30 last triggering panic among Hindi-speaking people in the state.
The BJP MP from Assam Bijoya Chakaraborty condemned the failure of the police and Assam government in protecting the lives and property of the people.
Meanwhile, Assam government today alerted all the district police heads in the wake of the twin blasts triggered by the suspected ULFA (I) militants.
