SHILLONG: In view of the shoddy road construction of the 500 meters PWD road at Laitlyngkot, Kyrdemkhla, the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), Laitlyngkot Circle has briefed Executive Engineer, PWD (roads) N H Bye Pass Division, Shillong, Aiban Syiem on this matter.
The organization, led by its president Ederland Kharbudon and organizing chief, FKJGP Central Body, Marbud Dkhar told reporters on Tuesday that the black topping of the road was done in the month of November.
“The black topping was done hastily resulting in poor condition of the road. Adding to the problem is that the contractor, Teling Buhphang is a local from Laitlyngkot itself,” Kharbudon said.
Buhphang reportedly informed the organization that parts of the unrepaired road will be done shortly, but the FKJGP claimed that the materials meant for the reparation were no longer at the site.
The FKJGP members have cautioned that poor quality of road repairs will not be tolerated and had directed PWD contractors to be responsible as road construction is for the welfare of the people.
Syeim has, however assured the members that the black topping of the 500 meters road will be redone and an inspection will be conducted on December 10 accompanied by members of the FKJGP, Laitlyngkot Circle.
