Govt notifies urban areas for digitization

SHILLONG: Following the notification of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting mentioning December 31, 2015 as the cutoff date for digitization of cable TV network in urban areas under the implementation of digital addressable system phase III, the State Nodal Officer of Digitization of Cable Network and Commissioner & Secretary, Information and Technology department has informed that Shillong, Mawlai, Pynthorumkhrah, Nongmynsong,      Mawpat, Umpling, Nongthymmai, Madanrting, Nongkseh, Umlyngka, Lawsohtun and Cherrapunjee under East Khasi Hills District; Tura under West Garo Hills; Resubelpara under North Garo Hills; Williamnagar under East Garo Hills; Baghmara under South Garo Hills; Nongstoin and Mairang under West Khasi Hills; Nongpoh and Umroi under Ri Bhoi District and Jowai under West Jaintia Hills have been listed as urban areas of the State to be digitized on or before December 31.
