GSU carries out road repair, blames MLA, MDC

SHILLONG: The GSU, Mendal regional unit has filled the mud in the potholes of the PWD road at Gokol National Highway (NH 51) which falls under the Bajengdoba PWD road.
The road repair was carried out by GSU on December 7. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the GSU General Secretary, Garo Students’ Union, Mendal Regional Unit, Samar .R. Marak  said that the department of PWD road, Bajengdoba has failed to repair the potholes of the main road.
Several complaints were lodged regarding the dilapidated condition of road to Bairon Marak, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Bajengdoba PWD road, but to no avail, the GSU alleged.
The citizens of Aruakgre village also complained about the dilapidated condition of the road and bridges from Bajengdoba to Jangrapara, an area which has not been repaired since a year.
“The GSU, Mendal Regional unit cannot delay to address the grievances of the people, hence we filled the mud into the potholes of the main road and repaired the dilapidated road of Gokol National High way (NH51)”, GSU leader said.
The GSU also wanted to know the whereabouts of MLA and MDC who were least bothered about the issue.
