World Human Rights Day
The District Legal Services Authority, North Garo Hills, observed World Human Rights Day on December 10 at Sarva Shiksha School, Wakso A·sim. The programme was presided over by Dr. Junemerry D Shira while Addl. Deputy Commissioner L. Ch Marak was the chief guest.
BJP unit formed
A BJP unit was formed in Songsak constituency in East Garo Hills on Tuesday with Thomas N. Marak, a former lecturer as president and Waljan Marak as general secretary, besides 28 other office bearers.
Hunger strike
Postal employees of Shillong will observe a hunger strike on December 11 in front of the Chief Post Master General Office, Shillong, to realize there four point charter of demands. All postal employees are expected to support the programme.
Dharna
Meghalaya Rural Bank Employees’ Association and Meghalaya Rural Bank Officers’ Organisation will stage a dharna outside the head office of the Meghalaya Rural Bank under the banner of Joint Council of Meghalaya Rural Bank Unions on December 11 at 2 PM.
Dry day
The District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills has declared December 12 as Dry Day in the entire district on account of the Firehouse concert. All IMFL licensed premises, bars, canteens, country spirit shops including out stills will have to remain closed on the said date.
Cleaning drive
The Dorbar Shnong Madan and Riat Laban, along with Seng Treilang ki Kynthei, Madan Laban, Seng Samla, Madan Laban, and Madan Sports and Cultural Club will organise a cleaning drive of the locality on December 12 from 8 AM. The Dorbar has asked all residents to participate in the cleaning drive.
Dorbar Shnong Mission Compound has informed that a cleaning drive will be organised in the locality on December 12 from 7 AM.

The Sub Divisional Officer (Supply), Amlarem Sub Division has informed that rice under the category of BPL, AAY, APL, Addl. BPL & APL for December 2015 and sugar for August & September 2015 will be released through FPS dealers of Amlarem Sub Division on December 15-17. SK Oil for December 2015 has also been released through the dealers.
