SHILLONG: A short story collection, “A Quirk of Fate” authored by Brian D Kharpran was released here on Monday by Commissioner and Secretary DP Wahlang.
The book, a collection of 17 short stories, reflects the observation of the author who is a caver and environmentalist.   Besides dealing with observations relating to the environment, some of the short stories dwell on the “mysterious and dark beliefs” of the tribals.
Speaking to media persons, Kharpran said that the stories relate to his experience in caving and few are based on true events.
Kharpran has dedicated this book, which is his seventh, to late Padmashree Silverine Swer, from whom he drew inspiration as a writer.
Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award winner Kharpran is a caver who has to his credit three novels, a book of poems, a factual book and a coffee table book on the caves of Meghalaya.
