SHILLONG: Even as the Supreme Court is yet to decide on the fate of CMJ University, the institution has surprisingly gone ahead and published an advertisement about requirement of faculty.
The CMJ University recently published an advertisement inviting applications for the post of professors, associate professors, assistant professors and   administrative staff.
Government counsel Ranjan Mukherjee said that the same is not permissible and they will annex the advertisement in the petition in the court.
He also said that four petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court.
After hearing one of the petitions, the Apex Court  had last month stayed the order of High Court of Meghalaya which had allowed the release of  Rs 15.62 crore  (Rs. 15,62,43,477.46p)  out of the frozen amount of Rs 30. 42 crore (Rs.30,42,87,709.17p) belonging to the university.
He added that three petitions are yet to be taken up
“The matter has been listed for hearing in January,” he said.
Meanwhile, the lawyer of CM Jha, SP Sharma said that there is no stay on publishing advertisements and added that the university has been functioning since November 23.
