NONGPOH: The indefinite hunger strike staged by the Hynniewtrep National Achik Movement (HANM), Women’s Wing entered its third day on Wednesday with the health of the agitators deteriorating rapidly.
The HANM (WW), is protesting against the adamant attitude of the State government towards their demand for construction of a PWD road from 13 Mile to Killing, Ri Bhoi district to connect border villages in these areas.
HANM (WW) said it was a matter of grave concern that three days have passed but no official from the Ri Bhoi district Administration or the health officer has visited them.
“We will move ahead without surrendering and we will fight for justice for the people residing in the Assam-Meghalaya border of Killing, Umtyrnga areas who are facing the brunt due to the adamant attitude of the State government,” they asserted.
The hunger strike, meanwhile, has been backed by HNYF and local residents of Umtyrnga village.
